"Small riverbed" sounds like an innocent invitation to walk down a slight slope to disaster and a violent death -- who know what lies in that boiling white vapor?  You've set up an interesting scene that makes me wonder what likes in that heavy mist.

thank you, Stephen, interesting thoughts. I haven't put it in this way, yet.

Given that in the upper part you can see the other side (which is not so far away) reduces the probability of danger in the mist. In reality, the slight slope continues in the same way down the river, without cliffs or abyss.

 The mystic effect of the fog is obvious, but I wanted to focus on the graphic patterns of the foreground in the first place.

Thanks for your time and thoughts.

Hello Zsolt;

Very interesting. At a first glance I thought it was at the boiling ocean with slick rocks in the foreground. We have these at the coast here in Norway. But closer study I see a mountain landscape. In both cases I see something what they have common. How the time carves out the shapes. Which you have very well captured. I also think that BW is a perfect choice for this. Very good work.

Kind regards

Bela Dick

Others have commented that b&w is "perfect" and the "perfect choice" for this.  Is there a color version of this posted somewhere for comparison?  I don't think it's the best composition because the picture is basically split in two: creek lines and then steam/fog.  I'm also wondering what it may have looked like with a wider lens and a few steps forward and to the left.

Thank you for your time, my friends, it is so good to read some constructive comments.

Jeff: thank you for your comment! my absolute favorites were always the coloured photos, however, in this case i felt like the abstract lines and textures would appear better in B&W. But i agree that the composition is not optimal, even if I did the best I could in given situation: I wanted to keep the upper end of the fog, because without it would be a different mood. At the lower end I could not go lower because of unwanted elements; at both sides, i needed to stretch, resulting in the end that the main line gone to the middle. I post here a different version after your advices, in color and with a composition more balanced.
