Lester,  This is most artistic.  I like the drama of this image that is communicated through the shapes, textures, and dark values with just enough  lighter values.  One question: If you decide to print this image, will you be able to reproduce the darker tones here on paper without losing detail?   We will be going to Death Valley in about two weeks and are staying in the park for three nights.  I'll be happy with one image that approximates any of yours.  Thanks again for sharing your tips on where to photograph.  Best to you. I will have to ask a good printer for me to print this to preserve details in the shadows as you mentioned. I too will look forward to your trip to Death Valley and I am definite you will come up with great photos.
