alfbailey 2 Posted February 21, 2013 I can't see very much wrong with this at all. In fact I really like it! The image is sharp enough and the trees are well defined. From a composition view, ideally a bit more space to the left of the house would have been desirable. I would crop approx 1/3 of the sky and perhaps try a very slightly cooler white balance in order to promote a colder feel to the snow? The snow clad foreground vegetation is also a nice touch.Another idea might be a B & W version with the same suggested crops? Nice work Michael! Best Regards Alf Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 21, 2013 Many, many thanks for your thoughtful analysis of this image. First - I definitely see your point about the sky. Secondly, I tried a 15% level of a cooling filter, and I didn't quite like what that did to the vegetation and the fence. Finally, my initial thinking was B&W, but found the result too drab. What hooked me immediately about this scene was the red snow fence. In my opinion, this would be the real attention grabber. Given the brown /reddish appearance of the vegetation near the bottom, my thought was to boost the saturation to give these highlights further prominence. Link to comment
