There are a lot of "classic" shots that are seen repeatedly here on photonet, the lone tree being one of the most prevalent. To succeed with such an often shot subject is very difficult. I'm not sure this image has quite risen above the ordinary. The tree itself is interesting, as is the background, but for me they have not been bought together in an arresting way. There is too much sky, the tree dominates both too much and too little and I find myself trying to look past it for some unfound interest in the background. Perhaps a lower viewpoint to isolate the tree against the sky may have worked, or a step left or right to better position the tree in regards to the background. As the above commentator noted this image is a little soft. It is well exposed but the image lacks punch and drama, something not aided by shooting at midday.
