marc_dilley1 0 Posted February 20, 2013 A single, violent thunderstorm last September resulted in hundreds of lightning-caused fires up and down the east sides of the Cascades from Oregon to Canada. Despite the efforts of firefighters and support personnel, the fires raged for weeks, spewing vast quantities of smoke particles into the air, which drifted for hundreds of miles. This image was shot in Icicle Canyon during the depth of the inferno, when smoke caused many communities, including mine, to shatter their low air quality records. Icicle Canyon is south and west of Leavenworth and eventually runs through the center of town. The upper canyon is a rugged, granite boulder-choked affair that drains a large area of glaciated high country. Link to comment
jordanek 0 Posted February 21, 2013 Very well composed image. I really like the silky quality of the foreground and how the river leads to viewer to the smoke obstructed sun. Link to comment
