Lovely shot.  My only criticism is that I think the crop is a little too tight at the bottom of the frame..

Thank you, Victor, Kathy and Pierre!

Kathy, two things about this image bother me a bit.  First, the bird feeder is in the image, and I really like these to look more natural.  Second, the bottom of the frame.  It is truly the bottom of the frame, otherwise I wouldn't have cropped it so close.

I appreciate your kind and constructive comments...all!

A strikingly beautiful bird and your composition is very good. The only thing that bothers me is that the background is somewhat busy and is still sharp enough to be distracting.

Scott,

Yes...the feeder is about 2.5 feet behind the bird and at f8 with this lens that is what you get.  However, I liked the light and the focus on the bird.  I thought about trying to clone out the feeder, which I am not talented enough to do well with the capabilities of Aperture 3.

Thanks for the nice comments!

I like this capture Richard. It is not always easy to get the most perfect shot. The lighting is lovely on the bird. You are fortunate to get such beautiful visitors to  your feeder!!! Well done!

Thank you, Gail!

Tried again yesterday from a different angle, but the sky became overcast with an approaching snow storm and the nice light went away.

We should have some Pine Siskens and Goldfinches arriving soon.
