This is a stunningly beautiful image Dominic, one of many from this Iceland series. Although the shot of the small iceberg with the reflected sun is an immediate pleaser, this one has held my attention for longer. There is so much to appreciate here. You have handled the high contrast inherent in this scene with aplomb, and to my eye this has been achieved in the main in camera. The whites are lovely and crisp and the blacks recede nicely from the deep shades of the foreground to the dark greys on the mountains. The level of detail is superb, and very pleasing. Not sure if all the snow in this place had the same texture as that shown in the foreground, but you have done very well to find it or utilise it to such pleasing effect. I love the way the mountains which would normally dominate this shot and be the main focus of the image, here play second fiddle to the excellent foreground, even if it is only a few tufts of grass. The balance of scale is just perfect. This is helped by having the mountain's jagged ridges being somewhat obscured by the low cloud, lessening their impact just a tad. also, the flat grey sky works perfectly here, the colours and tone of which are nicely judged - something that is often very hard to do. a dirty grey sky would have ruined this image as, actually, would a part cloudy and sunny sky. As you can probably tell, I like this one very much! Thank you Dominic.

I like your image. Your handling of the ligt is very good. The way the drifting snow takes your eyes into the image is great work.

I was looking through a number of your Iceland photographs, enjoying all of them, but this one stopped me.  It's a striking composition, with the sweeping lines of wind-driven snow in the foreground being such an inviting entry to the mountains in the background.  What is really rare and appealing (IMO) regarding the mountains is that they are bounded on both sides by space, making them an isolated patch rising very abruptly from the flat landscape.  Perhaps there are additional mountains on either or both sides, but your framing has isolated them, and the resulting composition is superb.
