The extreme low temperatures of the last week have made for a

thickening of the ice cap but the also very high winds of the last

three days have made for a rough sea and the broken-up and stirred ice

has been turned in odd shapes and loaded up the beaches.The

exceptional almost absence of snow here at this time of the year has

left the beaches exposed and the winds have picked up the sand and

colored the ice blocks and what was left of the near ice cap to give

this rare spectacle.Thank you for your comments on this one-Laurent
