Neil's Mittens

Wow, I love you POV in this image Chuck.  Almost make it like an 'optical illusion, or is one, while driving, actually increasing in altitude??? Excellent processing that suits this image very well.!

I was driving down into the valley and stopped for this shot. I was using a 80-200mm lens for the shot, near 200mm and that "pancakes" the view and the road leading out of the foreground is sloping upward I think, it was five years ago, and the lens was pointing at the horizon. The focal length and unusual terrain combine to give this image its look. Glad you enjoyed it.

The foreshortening of distance works to excellent effect here. I love the contrast between wild random nature and the sterile, straight lines of the road. The heavy processing has left lots of noise in the clouds, there are dust spots as well. I would also have cloned out the road sign lower left. Great image, thank you.

The road really is key to the image as it leads the eye forward and toward the smaller spire mesa on the left.  You create an sense of space and grandeur here.  Question, might you be a little contrast heavy in the middle area where deep blacks prevail.  I like the variation in values, but IMHO you might be missing some detail in that area??  Wonderful image.
