lintrathen 15 Posted February 4, 2013 Yet another remarkable capture.......... the clarity here is amazing.I appreciate you have a 400mm lens, but even so you still need to get incredibly close to these little finches to capture this quality........ questions:- do you use a hide, or are these aviary birds or, or, or,.Great shot........ well done.Best regards Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted February 4, 2013 Grayham,Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, you do have to get close. I have a feeder with black sunflower seeds hung in a nearby tree. I just sit out in the open with my camera on a tripod and wait. If I sit still, they don't care that I'm there. I took this today from about 12 feet away. This was the only good one out of 25 shots. It was 9 degrees F here so I was only out for about 45 minutes. There were nuthatches and female redpols out as well, but I couldn't get a good shot of one of them...maybe tomorrow.Best regards,Dick Link to comment
