Mount Hallelujah created in movie Avatar has its origin from three

famous Chinese mountain regions: Huangshan, Zhangjiajie and Guilin.

This image was made in one of these three beautiful mountain areas:

Huangshan. An unexpected snow storm suddenly came in the later

afternoon on 22 Feb 2013. It was very cold and the storm was too

strong to stand in the open location. So everyone left except me. By

the end I was glad to be able to make this image under such extreme

weather condition.

Thanks for viewing, and also please view in larger form.

A beautiful shot full of drama and movement. The captured flakes seem to sit in the valley, as opposed to closer to the lens. Its like a tidal wave of snow is rushing down the valley. I love the way the image recedes in clarity, from the sharp, relatively saturated peaks in the foreground to the almost obscured, barely coloured ones in the distance. Also love the jagged cliff with the tenacious trees centre image. A real maelstrom of an image. Thanks.

This evokes strong feelings, in part because it recalls so many Chinese paintings of misty mountain scenes. You have added a modern eye and technique to this tradition.

An outstanding portrait of Mt Huangshan. Excellent composition and color contrast. It certainly creates a unique visual experience of this mountain.

I can only try to imagine what it must have been like to be on the mountain at this time.  I can see the mystery that the clouds have created in the majestical place through your image.  A wonderful, forboding scene!

One of the best I've seen of this area. As others have said the suspended snow flakes give it a magical feel. Excellent exposure and processing too to bring out the color and three dimensional sense of place.
