Don't know why so low rate but after a so long time here I don't think this bother me now.Laurent, the point of view you had for this is super, only large view can shows the incredible image you caught,I have the feeling to be there,or next step in the screen will be in your image,I like how this floes look from foreground to bg,also the blue horizon line comes to make a good contrast for image.

sinceres compliments

Thank you kindly for this and your comment on one of my B&W images of this area.As you well know,on this colored image, the contrast and saturation had to be bumped up to get some definition in what is a basically an all white scene in this unpoluted harbour area.On the B&W,the contrast and shadows had to be amplified and the sharpening enhanced to get some texture.

Merci et meilleures salutations-Laurent

Thank you kindly for your kind observation on this scene.Like you,I am not ratings motivated but I look forward to and really appreciate the constructive comments the very able photographers on this site take time to formulate on mine and the other photos uploaded for view and review.Personally, and that is a choice,I rate only the photos on which I have made a comment.

Salutations amicales-Laurent

Deserves to be seen in the larger version, this winter scene is magnificent with beautiful capture of the light and details are exquisite. Very nicely composed.

Laurent, the timeless quality and beauty of your photographs just astounds me! I have just looked thru your recent postings (winter photos) with a friend who grew up in New Brunswick but now lives in Australia. We are both truly amazed at the beautiful classic structures of your images. You achieve such wonderful work without resorting to artifice in post processing.

My (once) Canadian friend said that when he looked at your images, he felt cold, the winter aspect of your photos just took him back to his life growing up in Shediac (New Brunswick) in the 1960s. Your compositions show great classic simplicity and you let the subject matter, snow, ice and cold, dominate your compositions and impose their emotions on the images you have posted.

In my opinion, these are images of classic beauty and I commend you on your true artist's eye.

May I also say briefly, I want to thank you for your own comments on my images. I would very much love to see what your artist's style and photo eye could produce in the Australian rain forests of Victoria, or the raw arid bush country of New South Wales. Please post more.

In summing up, 9.9/10 in my opinion! (I considered giving you 10/10 but that would be perfection and not achievable by humans)

Best regards and please post more in this (frigid) genre! Ann.

Thank you and your Newbie friend for the kind and flattering appreciation which you have voiced so eloquently.I can understand your friend opting for the Aussie climate/beaches over that of Shediac as for the better part of 4 to 6 months ,snow, ice and cold are the standard fare here, the latter being the hardest to cope with especially when the mercury dips below -20C;then not only your hands but the cameras freeze up......but,Winter can turn out choice scenes.

This is pure hobby for me and having a try at your environment would certainly be a happy challenge;I was in your beautiful country a fairly long time ago and given the opportunity,I would gladly return and maybe will eventually,as we have friends there that have extended an open invitation.

Merci et meilleures salutations-Laurent
