Nice shot, love her expression.

A little judicious cropping of the large black area on the left to move the subject out of the center of the frame might make it more interesting.

I would like to explain my reasoning behind these elements as arranged...

The darkness camera left is intentional and all aspects are part of the allegory...

Refined environment reflecting the excellence of a disciplined musician, placed center, by actual position and quality of light.

She gazes camera left and looks passively at the past and is content with it... she departs from it, by having it represented further by non-nondescript darkness.

She is upright in her personal character and there is visual rhythm as well, showing an orderly life experience and musical awareness.  The violin on her lap, informs us as to her profession, the bow resides apart from her hand on the bench and shares that she may have other interests aside from music.

She is not highly ornamented, no jewelry, no fanciful garment nor makeup.  Telling further of her personal modesty.

Camera right is an unfinished wall... a work in progress, as is her life and her musical ability.

Past and future carry equal weight.

Her expression is not smiling, nor is she frowning...  equally joyful and sad.

This is my intent...
