A lovely capture here.......... good colour/lighting and crisp definition.... although the larger view hints at the sharpening being close to maximum. If my PP was any good, I'd suggest you clone out the blue streak in the background.......... a good presentation nevertheless.

Well done......... great lens

Regards

Ps... your bio says you will be more active this year, which is good..... might I suggest your open a Birds 2013 folder so we can find your new uploads?

Grayham,

Thanks for the comments!  I agree with your points.  I have been reviewing all of the images from my previous older Aperture 2 library and reprocessing selected shots in Aperture 3 on a new MacBook Pro with the really incredible retina display.

I am slowly reorganizing my photo.net portfolio, one day at a time, and your suggestion for new folders in a good one which I have begun with landscapes and nature.

Since I picked up my Nikon D300 in 2007 and joined this site, I have learned a great deal and shot about 16,000 images.

The learning continues and I'm looking forward to all of it.

Best regards!

Dick

I love Purple Finches. They are among the most common colourful birds (besides Robins) in most of the last places we have lived. One of our homes was in the Country on Scugog Island in Southern Ontario (close to Port Perry). I was very surprised one Spring morning to find a nest inside a wreath I had next to the front door of our house. The eggs were already laid so I let the Finches come and go in peace. It was lovely to see the babies and hear them chirping. An excellent capture Richard!

Thank you, Tony!

This was a lucky find in my brother-in-law's backyard.  Made for some fun shooting.

Happy New Year!

Dick
