I like the crsip freshness of the scene. The boat looks like it is just waiting for me and my fishing rod to arrive. And the way you have composed the shot from a slightly higher perspective adds an element of mystery as to what awaits beyond.

Compliments!

Alf,

Thank you!  This is my friend's boat and dock on a 5000 acre inland lake in the eastern upper peninsula of Michigan.

Glad you like it!

Have a good weekend!

Excellent image!  I especially like the horizontal bands of different color and texture being cut diagonally by the dock.   I am going to add this to my list of favorites.

Jerry

Jerry,

Thank you!

This is in my friend's back yard on a local inland lake near sunset with reflections in the water from clouds above.

Best regards!

Richard, I saw this at the wednesday forum and knew I had to come and check it out. I had a look at the larger view and you have a wonderful image. there are the yellow flowers, the powder blue water with an effective blend of orange - just wonderful. It has a textured appearance that loooks like a painting ready to be hung in a gallery.

There is a however and I tread gently.

I get a sense that the image is over processed or over sharpened. It works here because it results in an artistic impression but it may not work in other images.  But as you know, it comes down to personal tastes.

PS Phew - 5000 acres - that is huge!

Tony,

Thank you!  It is so nice to be back talking about photography with you.  I really appreciate your comments.

I'm getting used to this new laptop...15" MacBook Pro with the retina display.

Interesting that this image, reprocessed from Aperture 2, now in Aperture 3 has been minimally sharpened and looks very good on the retina display, but gets "degraded" when converted to JPEG from RAW to post on PN.

Posting this on Facebook allows larger files, and the image looks better, so I'm wondering if it is just some type of pixelation from reducing the file size.

Anyway, so good to hear from you!

Richard thanks for your response. Neither am I a Mac person nor an Aperture user so it is difficult to guide you - if guidance if required. I googled to learn more about Aperture and I searched photo.net forums but there were no straight answers. When I export from Adobe Lightroom, I usually specify 100 DPI resolution and standard sharpen for 'screen' as opposed to  Matt  Print vs Glossy print. If no one else has detected any anomaly, then it could be my monitor so I would not put too much effort into it.

Thanks, Tony!

I'll be keeping an eye on this:-)

Seriously, I'm learning the nuances of the upgraded Aperture program and this new computer, all comments are very welcome!

Have a good weekend!
