This is a hand held available-light photograph of the interior of the Palais de Rumine in downtown Lausanne. This building used to be a university library. It currently houses a museum and offices.

I am afraid that the lack of the bottom part detracts from the image. Did you use the shortest available focal length'? I would like to see this picture in a square format, and complete with the floor.

I have to agree with Michele. As it stands, it's unclear what your subject is. If it's the courtyard framed by the archway, the floor needs to be there. If it's the courtyard itself, the foreground arch shouldn't be in the shot at all.

 

Great lighting anyway.

This is a hand-held (wall-supported) available-light shot, so unfortunately I can't take credit for the lighting ;->.

 

I agree with the comments about the desirability of showing the floor. However, I had to choose between the arch and the floor, and I thought the arch deserved to win!

 

Maybe the next time I am in Lausanne, I should go back with a wider angle lens and a tripod. Thanks again for your comments.
