The lurid colors, the telephone pole silhouetted against the flames and the pole at the left leaning into the frame catch the drama of the moment. It's not pretty but it's real and catches the drama of the moment; therein lies its power.

Jack, the newspapers would not print this kind of photo, but I have used it to give some kind of emotive expression of what I saw.

 

By the way, the "pole" on the left is a ladder--this one unlighted.  It occurs to be that some of them are perhaps now lighted so that another hook and ladder company will not swing its ladder into one's own.  I'm speculating, of course.

Unfortunately, documentaries like this appear often in our lives.

It is sad for all the town's people that knew and visited the mill.

Fire consumes our efforts too fast, and this is one of the downsides of life's experiences.
