I find it interesting that this study of the same subject (which you posted recently) has been processed using noticeably more contrast and upping the level of detail I wander whether this is due to previous comments, or just a coincidence? I like this shot. The framing, the tones and the subject himself are all compelling aspects of a good shot. I find the cig smoke to be a little distracting and slightly obscures his right eye. There also seems to be some form of halo around the man, particularly noticeable at his shoulders. Also, referencing a comment on your last shot, it seems that the perspective was not to blame, this man does have incredibly large hands!

This is a wonderful character study.  The man dominates the space of the image, especially with that large hand, while the cigarette dominates him.  The textures of skin, beard, hat and the coverage by the smoke all go together to make this a strong image.
