Marvin, You seem to have made a wonderful catch.  I assume you panned with the bird's flight and stopped it cold.  Was it with a super long lens?

The background confused me for a minute.  The first time I looked at the photo I had the impression the bird was flying into the plants.  Think of it as I might, however, I cannot offer any better way to do it.

I tracked the eagle across the clear sky at 400mm (100-400mmL). When he passed low with the vegetative baxkground it was still in focus -  just luck.
