A nice street portrait. Lots of character in the face of the subject. I like the straight on view and eye contact. A couple of thoughts on the treatment. I like the b&w treatment but I find it a bit flat. The low contrast makes his face and beard appear somewhat soft. With a subject like this I think a higher contrast look would give it more impact. I did a quick edit to show what I mean. Did some tweaking and added a slight vignette. Just offering it as an alternative, you might like it just the way it is. Just my 2 cents.

For me, I would prefer the edit to sit somewhere between these two images. I do agree that a little more contrast would help to add punch, but I think not as much as in the new version. Also, it seems as though too much "clarity" or some such was used, giving the shot an overly processed, too hyper-real quality that I don't personally like.

I like the original version, it could be percieved that there is an element of natural softness, but that isn't always a bad thng when it comes to portraits, and it must be stressed that the image is well focused and sharp. Great character portrait!

Vert Nice portrait indeed. Great character, And amazing tension in his eyes. I much prefer the original version. It's à detail, but i would feel more confortable with à real square format.
