At low tide, the ice sheet has rested on a pointed rock below which has

perforated the surface making this volcano hole. What do you

think?Thank you-Laurent

Laurent, I really like the composition of the shot with the contrast in smoothness and of the middle ground and broken ice in the fore ground. Well seen and executed, best wishes William.

Thank you for the visit and the appreciation. The warm temperatures made for a softening of the ice and at low tide, the ice sheet was perforated by this rock close to shore.

Thank you for examining this one and for the kind appreciation. This scenery will change dramatically in the next few days as temperatures near -30C are forecasted.

I really like this image. It has an element of mystery, a touch of the surreal. The exposure and processing seems spot on but I wander if the mystic/surreal quality could be improved with a slightly tighter crop? Loosing the grass/twigs (?) middle right, the edge of the crack bottom right and some of the sky. This should focus more on the hole and the strange huts. Great image Laurent!

I had a look at the new version and have to say that it does seem a much stronger image. I was worried that the crop would perhaps bring the main subject (the hole) to close to the bottom of the frame and out of balance, but this hasn't happened. I do appreciate an uncluttered image, and the new version focuses much more succinctly on the images most important aspects, giving weight to the magical and surreal aspects I mentioned earlier.

The cropped version turned out good and I got some positive feedback from others on this one also.Thank you again.
