Your experimentations seem to be paying off dividends! The detail and sharpness is superb on the bird itself, although maybe a bit bright in the foreground.

Maybe allow a touch more space above the birds head?

Thank you!  This is my second attempt with this image.  Unfortunately, I don't have any more room above the head in this shot, but I agree and I have others to try.  Also, I'm trying to balance the red, blue and green channels with levels, curves and exposure for all regions of the image...like the blown out section of the log in front of the feet.  Thanks for the input, which is what I had hoped for.
