Well, I finally got a good tongue shot of my cham. I had been trying

with that larger Idolo, but as soon as I placed this mantis up there

he nabbed it. Luckily, he missed on his first try, because I did

too.....pic posted below. The second try, a few seconds later, was

good for both of us. Look closely and you can see his tongue is

wrapped around a wing and is on its way back.

Timing was of the essence and here you were dead on for a most amazing capture and equally impressive image.I,for one, had never seen such a stop action scene and I am saving this one in my Favorites.Bravo for this patient and excellent work.

Not "unseen" before, but definitely "the decisive moment" and also an excellent composition (the diagonal placement of objects and the colors)! An image I would stop by every time I pass it on a wall.

Excellent timing and gorgeous color work.  Beautiful detail.  I like how the chameleon can rotate its eyes to look forward...giving it the binocular vision like humans...making it easier to judge distance to its prey. 

 

You should do a series detailing how you set up and execute shots like this.
