Ice fishing for smelt is started with icing up of the harbour.Shacks

are moved over hole cut through ice surface. Here, freshly set shack

with ice blocks from fishing hole.I would appreciate your

Thank you kindly. These do make for interesting images.I am struggling with a new computer and new PP program and hope my next batch will have finer colors.

Glad this one caught your eye.As you can see from the cut out blocks, there is no more than 6 to 8 inches of ice if you discart the  slushy snow top,so it is tricky business to adventure oneself out there. On foot, not too bad,but with a snowmobile or a 4-wheeler,one can feel the springiness of the ice sheet. The overly mild temperatures of the last few day have further deteriorated the ice quality and some of these shacks had to be moved and snow vehicle traffic has practically stopped as gaps of open water are appearing all over.Sneak a look at my photos of today on a very wet ice surface.Thank you for viewing.Hope you are well!
