scotttyrrell 0 Posted January 11, 2013 This image has many aspects that should make for a very arresting shot. The perfectly captured foreground motion, the rocks in the middle distance, the receding cliffs and the interesting cloudy sky. However, and especially when compared to some of your other similar images, this one doesn't reach out and grab me. I think the photo lacks a little punch. I'm not sure if this could have been remedied post production with a little more contrast or whether the light at the time was just a little too flat. Some subtle highlights on the rocks would have been nice, as well as some illumination of the rocky outcrop that dominates the cliffs. This whole area of the photo could have done with being lighter, or blessed with a few rays of sun at the time of shooting. The sky, also, seems a little week and under-utilised. The brightest and perhaps best part of the image is the silky combed receding waves in the foreground, but after having drawn the eye so effectively into the picture it then gets a little lost amongst the dull browns and shadows. Slavomir, you are an excellent photographer, as your portfolio elegantly demonstrates, this one just didn't work for me. I hope you find my criticism helpfull and that you realise it is only the opinion of a fellow amateur photographer, not a professional!!. Link to comment
