marshall 0 Posted August 12, 2003 Sunset from Bryce Point. When I got to Bryce Point, the sky was threatening, but with holes in the distance through which crepuscular rays passed and illuminated pockets of the landscape. It could easily have turned dark and rainy, or cast light through in ways that would make Bryce Amphitheatre even more spectacular than usual. For the most part, it just stayed dark, windy and rainy, only starting to clear after the sun dipped below the horizon. Standing for an hour and a half outside in a wind and rainstorm might make it more gratifying that I got an image at all, but I would certainly not argue that it makes it a better image as viewed by someone else. The subtle variations in the sky may not come through well in this jpeg, but I'd like opinions on this image anyway. Thanks! Link to comment
phil-staff 0 Posted August 12, 2003 I like it... I can see the colo(u)r in the sky is trying do something. This reminds me of the glow from a forest fire. The biggest distractions for me are the two non-trees/people! Thanks for enduring the weather. Link to comment
marshall 0 Posted August 12, 2003 Thanks for the comments, Phil. And being married to a Canadian, I can handle "colour" vs. "color". I think the two "non-trees/people" to which you're referring are actually rock forms. They do kinds stick out a little against the tree silhouettes, though, well, they're there, I guess... gearoid_osullivan 0 Posted January 16, 2004 It's a very nice image Marshall, though I'd love to see it either in print or projected to appreciate the colour gradations in the sky (especially when you obviously chose to make the sky the feature by having such a small foreground silhouette). The colour just coming over the hill is magnificent, and I'm sure went some way to compensating for the hardship involved in getting the shot. A very nice, understated shot that works well (the two people do detract slightly once they were pointed out). Keep shooting, All the best, G Link to comment
