In August we visited one of our favorite Garden Galleries, Garry's in

Lindsay, Ontario. They always have a great selection of flowers.

Earlier in the year they had this lovely new Hibiscus, the Tropical

Escape. The blooms were immense and I was determined to get a

capture. However, it was very windy in the Greenhouse Gallery this

day and I was having a difficult time getting a capture. When I

reviewed the Metadata on this image, it said I used the Normal

Program, which I always figure is Automatic, yet I had set the ISO to

100 and was using SPOT METERING. My Shutter Speeds were all

different on most of the images, as were the F Stops. Mike will be

able to help me with this one, as usually I try to shoot 'wide open' for

my Macro Lens. I am thinking I was using a higher Shutter Speed

because of the wind, thus the F Stops are higher also. This is one

area I will have to study (what to do when I want to shoot Wide

Open, and I am having trouble getting a capture because of High

Winds?) There is always something to learn, which is what I enjoy

about this 'journey' also. (many thanks for any visits and comments,

most sincerely, Gail)

Beautiful image Gail.  Wonderful colours and tones – especially in the leaves.  Nice soft background.  Depth of field is good for such a large flower.  It looks wonderful when viewed large.

I thought the Tag they had on the plant was cute. The colours of the blooms were so Festive, they certainly made me think of my 'tropical vacations' and all the treats!!!

So nice to hear from you Mike! I was perusing one of your latest folders the other evening, but I didn't have the opportunity to comment, I will try to stop by later, it certainly was interesting, lovely images.

Many thanks for your visit and input, ;-) Gail

plenty of gentle soft blur, even at f/6.3.

i leave the aperture open and leave the lens focused to the same point, shifting in and out to get it sharp.  then i hold down the button to take three shots.  blessings of digital.  i usually get a good one.  best, j

p.s.:  that would have reduced the slightly brittle quality.

yes, I must start doing the same. I never thought of trying it when I was at the garden gallery that day, while the breeze felt good (so hot!!) I was getting very frustrated. Us women and our 'hormones'!!! tnks for your visit and input, always helpful.
