No it’s not a Winery.  I’m not very certain about the details but I believe the garden was originally established by a wealthy business person in the early part of the 20^th century as a weekend retreat in the mountains that distantly overlook Sydney.  The garden and house were taken over by the not-for-profit National Trust in the 1960’s and it has been open to the public from around that time.

The garden features, including this water feature, were part of the original design and are scattered about the more formal part of the garden.
