Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 26, 2012 Fire plugs/hydrants are always there to serve us, and we just don't seem to appreciate them enough. I think that we should at least start giving them names so that they will know that we appreciate them. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 26, 2012 Note: "Megan" is a fictitious entity created entirely for this series. --Lannie Link to comment
mike_palermiti 3 Posted December 26, 2012 Hi Lannie,An interesting presentation my friend. The older, beat up fire hydrants do have more character, too.Best Regards, Mike Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 26, 2012 Thanks Mike. Yes, but in this case I used an "artificially distressed" version via Photoshop. --Lannie Link to comment
mike_palermiti 3 Posted December 26, 2012 Hi Lannie,Thanks for revealing the means by which you produced the first version.Having spent some time consulting with movie directors about how to create "special visual effects" optically, I can appreciate the digital processing "effects" that Photoshop and other programs offer to the user.Best Regards, Mike Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks, Mike. I'm sure you could offer Hollywood some useful advice. All I could offer would be desaturation, followed by applying levels and curves. I doubt that i could repeat the results. --Lannie Link to comment
dianedh 7 Posted December 27, 2012 Nice metallic look to this one. I'm amazed you got this out of your original shot. Link to comment
DavidRabinowitz 8 Posted December 29, 2012 I think it's artistic...now what is artistic is subjective of course but maybe a better thought would be, I like it, which I do...regards....David...it's also sexually provocative but maybe that wasn't where you were going... Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 29, 2012 Thanks, David. Wherever I might have been going, it is hard to go too far with a fire hydrant. I do think that it would have been easier to cast a fire hydrant as male. I figure that if people can make the leap of seeing the femininity inhering in a fire hydrant, then their minds have worked hard enough for one day. I guess I could have named this fire hydrant "Madonna" rather than Megan. --Lannie Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted December 31, 2012 Hi Lannie, I do like this image and your treatment of it. Turned out rather well. I had a chuckle when you just discussed 'naming her Madonna'. Does take me back to those 'bras' she wore. My daughter went to the concert in Toronto when she was into all that 'stuff'. I was quite shocked when she spoke to me of it later. My daughter was given the ticket and I thought what a treat it would be for her. A bunch were going by Limo (she rarely got opportunities like that). However, while mature enough to know the difference, even Shauna was a bit 'put off' by some of the content. Now it just seems like it was SO LONG AGO.Cheers to you Lannie, ;-) Gail Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 31, 2012 Thank you, Gail. As Willie Nelson said, "Ain't it funny how time slips away." Megan is, shall we say, a bit asymmetrical, but I am reluctant to say that Madonna was more "balanced." I must have been in a weird mood when I conceived of this Megan project. --Lannie Link to comment
