A single palm leaf from the Palm House in Copenhagen Botanical

Garden. This garden is well worth a visit even in winter time. But what

about the image? Any thoughts are welcome. Best wishes.

Hello Frode

The thumbnail image caught my eye right away. I love the sweep of the frond up into the corner and the light green tones contrasting with the darker tones. I don't know if it's possible to recover more detail from the blown highlights at the bottom or not. If not I would suggest cropping it up from the bottom to just above the problem area, but it would be preferable to keep your framing if you can. The other small thing would be to clean up the dark mottling spots about 1/3 from the bottom and leave just the beautiful sweep of green. Just my 2 cents worth.

Regards

Hi Gregory, and thank you for your comments, not only 2 cents worth I think, at least not to me ;-)

I see you have the same thoughts as I have, and I agree with you to some extent. I was however unsure whether to do anything about the spots (which I am almost sure are spots after falling water drops in this very damp environment). Maybe I should at least have removed the leftmost one since it is more disturbing than the others (there are quite a few drops there). However, I decided to just leave them there to see if anyone commented on them (as you did) and I also think they might add a more natural feeling to the image (but realize they might be just too disturbing for that).

The highlights are unrecoverable since the camera I used here only shoots JPG. We are actually approximately 10 meters above ground here, high up in the palm and tree crowns, and the back light is the sky over Copenhagen, so I just left it as is as I thought it gave a more natural feeling to the image as opposed to a more abstract approach of patterns and colors. I could have cropped it away, partly or in whole. This will inevitably make the "arch" much more dominant, but that is not necessarily a minus. I have tried a few, and I like some of them. They all make the image more abstract though, again not necessarily negative, but it gives another picture ;-)

Again, thank you for commenting my picture. I appreciate that! I hope you don't think I am opposing your thoughts in any way. I just wanted to "fill inn" with my thoughts. ;-)

Best wishes (and I hope my English is not too under-educated ;-) )
