There is romantic magic in the steam of the North Pole Express, the

story goes it is good luck for love to kiss in the steam of this

Christmas Train, or so the tale I spin today goes. May a tradition be

born. Merry Christmas.

Well...if it isn't a tradition already, it most definately should be!

I love all that steam and the faint glimpse of the church that can just be  seen through it. The subtle touches of the festive season on the lamp posts add to the already great atmosphere.

I'm kind of wishing that the guy wasn't crouched in the foreground, but then maybe there wouldn't have been the opportunity of the photo at all without him.

Nice work Mark!

Best Regards

Alf

Ruud and Alf, thanks so much for your comments. Yes I will have to carry a megaphone in my camera bag for these moments. "Attention person in red, could you move off my set, you are ruining a magical photo moment. Thank you."

Actually, I believe that was another photographer getting a lovely couples portrait, but I think in this case they did not see the forest for the trees. I had chosen a great vantage point to get the train pulling out of the station and also getting a nice shot of Santa waiving from the train. This magical moment was just dumb luck for me. But I have learned that if you shoot photography in this area long enough, you see some great Kodak moments. lol.

I love this image, not only for its composition, colour and technical qualities but also because of the different stories that it tells.  The Santa hats are just so cute, too!  Thanks for sharing both pic and background.
