i'm told there is no point in stopping it down.  at f/2 you're far better off with the f/2 lens.  have you taken any with it yet?  like the picture as well.  best, jamie

I agree very pretty, it might just be the photographer in me, but some of these lenses appear to me as a work of art in thier own right.

Hi Lannie,

A "7" all the way my friend.

I own ALL the Nikkor 50mm ever produced and I never tire of seeing an image of one.

While they are all nice to look at but I prefer using them. This lens is better used from F/2 to F/4.

Manual focus is the only way I go, even when the lens is has an  auto-focus capability.

Along with manual focus is the manual f-stop and manual choices made in the camera.

Back to the basics of photography.

Jamie, Alf, Mike:  No, I have never used this lens.  I imagine that it is pretty soft at f/1.2, but I cannot say that from experience.  I love the feel, the heft, of these older designs.
