Mesquite Dunes

Beautiful capture Lester. Such a contrast between the Dunes and that fabulous sky. Definitely a unique location that consists of such varied terrains.

Lester,  Wonderful image - Viewed large, one can appreciate the undulating shapes of the dunes as well as texture in the sand.  the mesquite provides excellent perspective leading into the distant mountains where you effectively pick up some repeating orange color.  This capture is vast and quite artistic.  Is this Great Sand Dunes National Monument in Colorado?   Larry

It was too much for me to walk to the highest peak on the far right of the image when I stopped to where I took this photo. Mesquite Sand Dunes is described as flat sand dunes but there are undulating and difficult to negotiate specially at mid-afternoon. Took a glance at the bushes that seemed to form a line that became my leading objects into the photograph. The dramatic clouds attracted me next and I popped some shots. The area where you are describing in this image is where a lot of photographs are taken by other photographers who frequent this place. I couldn't reach it under a mid-afternoon sun. Took a close look and composed this shot. Thanks again for your visits. I saw your post of the same place where the sand ripples are but the place was full of footprints this time and made photographing the sand dunes quite difficult.

This is the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park. One of the nearest places to take photographs of sand dunes after passing through Furnace Creek. The sand dunes are tricky, described as flat dunes but actually has deep undulating peaks that sometimes are not that easy to negotiate with a load of cameras, lenses, filters on your shoulders and the tripod, of course. Thanks for your thoughts and I appreciate your remarks on some of my posts especially those taken here at the Death Valley National Park.
