The drive to the Badwater Basin in Death Valley took just twenty minutes

from Furnace Creek but waking up at four in the morning was not the usual

routine except during a photography shoot to wait for sunrise. The trek off

the road in pitch-dark visibility was aided with flashlights to help us

negotiate our way into the middle of these hexagons without stepping on

the friable salty crust formations. It was half past four when we started

taking our first photos but an hour and a half after changed the direction of

our cameras when the sun was already up and to the south was the

mountains turning red as it was starting to get hit by the rising sun and the

moon was swiftly making its way down these gloriously lit hills. Thank you

for viewing and your comments are much appreciated.

I've not yet found these salt patterns -- it was still quite wet when I visited.  You got a very good exposure in a difficult lighting situation, and you got the sun in a very good part of the morning.  Sounds like you had a wonderful experience.

Thanks for your description of doing this excellent work.  Nice gold hour light, the full moon and the special foreground, lucky clouds, all are in a perfect place,  all because of your vision and your skill.  Best Regards,

I love the light on the mountains. The sky and the moon are also quite beautiful. Not sure if it is my monitor but I am not getting a full sense of clarity with the foreground.

You have my admiration and respect. Your advance planning and execution spelled out in preamble to this image is first rate and as a consequence you got the images you wanted........... this one is outstanding.

One could say that the foreground is somewhat over-sharpened.... depending on ones monitor and calibration (thereof) but I'll live with that as it ties the whole image together............. I'm waiting for the moon-buggy.

Well done............ I'm impressed.

Regards
