Please view large. Fog socked in our street the other morning.

Noticing this view framed by the trees, I dragged out my camera

and captured this from our front step. Unfortunately, there is a lack

of sun, hence poorer values than I would prefer. Still, I thought this

worth sharing. Thanks for your comments.

Well captured atmosphere - and carefully arranged composition: I like how tree and postbox at the right "echo" the other tree and the boxes in the center.

In normal light these postboxes are completely harmless objects - but here they seem to come to live for following some evil deed :-)

Wolfgang and Efim,   Thanks for visiting my mailboxes.  You are correct, Wolfgang, light significantly changes our perspective and attitude about objects.  Thanks again.  Larry

I don't remember but I may have adjusted the color balance and cloned out something at the top left.  I was taught a long time ago (Cibachrome processing) that you need to adjust density (lightness/darkness) before attempting to perform color balance and it is something I try and practice today.

All the best,

Very interesting composition. A relatively common subject, taken into a whole new dimension. The isolation, the quiet moment, the street dividing the recipients of secret writings for each dweller….And the fog….delightful. As in many cases, being a matter of taste and personal preferences, I like the way you presented it, with subdued color and light, giving it the mood you (probably) were perceiving.
