Agustin,

I am commenting, because I have mixed feelings about the image - aestheticaly I would prefer the lighting to be a little different, that is, to light the man's chin a little more on the left side, and the woman's a little less. BUT, those points asside, The photo moves me - there is at the same time a distance and an intimacy in the divergent gazes, contrasted with the posture.

Duncan! thanks for the comment. This was one of the first studio shots I did for alternative printing when I started with saltprints(that means, exposing and developing the negative for saltprint). So I tried to light it in a contrasty way. That´s the reason why the backlight is so harsh... My mistake. What I like of the shot is his posture. Maybe she is a little out of mood (a small smile, contrasted to his serious superior gesture). The print is nicer than the scan (its quite difficult to get good scans from textured paper.).

I´m still trying to get some kind of "formula" for lighting in studio, exposing and developing for alternative processes... It would be easier If I used digital negs =). You just scan a normal Silver print, load the contrast curve according to the process, and print BIG negatives. (I have just 4x5 negs.)

Good luck!

Agustin, your alt. process prints are all wonderful. While I think this one is a very nice photograph, I agree with the previous poster on the "chins" issue.

I think you can try the method of making duplicate negatives from high contrast lith film described in Liam Lawless' article "Less is More" (see the article @ alternativephotography.com). This method lets you make several duplicate negatives of different contrast grades for different processes...

Loris, I have a problem with the contrast of my negs and the different processes I do. I think the best way to do it would be through the digital way. Maybe in the future I´ll get the elements I need.

THanks for your advices=)
