Urban landscape. Another crop of a water tower. This shot justhappens to be a 100 percent crop. Since no timer or remote was usedat the moment of capture, and since no sharpening has been applied, itmay appear a bit soft (even though a tripod was used). It certainlyis at the limits of resolution as shot. I don't know how much moreresolution might have been gained by using a remote and mirror lockupand reducing the ISO (accidentally left at 400 from an earlier shot). This was shot as a JPEG and was not a serious test of the limits ofthe sensor. Comments welcome.

Great Camera coupled with a great lens on the front and very competent photographer at the back = a great result even at the 100 % crop, and the fact that no sharpening has been applied is even more impressive.  It all adds weight to my pondering over a purchase of a D800.

Compliments!

Thanks for the compliment, Alf.  I really cannot say enough good things about this camera.  So far, I have had absolutely no problems of any kind.

Hi Lannie,

I have looked at all three of your water tower shots using the Nikon D800E.

If you have a good copy of the Nikkor 80-200 ED mm lens, then shooting at F/2.8 is going to provide the highest resolution possible with this camera. However, my best 80-200 ED Nikkor still limits what the Nikon D800E can yield. Using a quality tripod, and mirror lock up are very useful in obtaining as much detail from the setup, too.

All of your examples are good, though.

Best Regards my friend,

Mike
