on a windy morning on lake michigan the move in soft waves across

the beachfront only to be held at bay at the lines of snow fence but

even then the sand would make it's way through the slats in the

fence structure. comments welcome

This is a very stark photograph, and that is much of the appeal it has for me.  If this were Montana, that would be a grain elevator in the background, and the foreground would be blowing snow held in check by a snow fence.  That's my experience, and without your explanation that's what I would have assumed.  The parallels are interesting.
