I like this picture. The overall feel of it is nice and I like the colors and texture. I would however prefer it level than angled as you have done. Just my personal preference.

I like the way you have composed this. The monster leads in from the bottom right corner and take the viewer right through the myriad of reflections.

I do see Benjamins point too about the slight angle. Rotate canvas 1 -2 degrees clockwise would solve it.

Nice work Jamie!

Benjamin - I hate pictures that aren't straight, but I seem to be the world's least horizontal person.  I was tired, I was bending down.  Excuses.  Thanks.  best, j

Alf - Thanks for your unending, unlimited, unadulterated support.  I may have intended it to be squiffy - I don't know.  I do know that I meant to place the thick bit of the monster in the corner.  best, j

Five days later, fifteen minutes earlier in the day, same camera, same lens.  Emphatically not squiffy.

Thanks for your comments.  When four people comment on a picture, I figure it must be o.k., and I move it to a highlights folder.  This is the first one from my mud adventures.  Moving to "Autumn Classics."  Thanks again.  best, jamie

first thing i noticed was angle of water,  which you have already taken care of.  all three images you have in this folder are exceptional as are a lot of images in the folder below.  a marvelous 2013 with reasonable light!

Another muddy picture with comments from five people, amazing.

reasonable light... f/4 for 1/40 second at ISO 320 and 250 for those two.  not so much light.  good to know which one you prefer.  i'll keep it in mind.  thanks roger.  best, jamie

why i really like the image is because it is so wonderfully clear and sharp,  ( never thought those words would cross my lips ) especially in reflection.  also find it quite interesting that such a image could come from the count of soft!  anyway i do love this image very much!

the German wikipedia website dates the lens to 1961. i shot this wide-open. my lens does not stop down - that superfluous feature eliminated itself before i bought it.

f/4 with a 20-mm lens gives quite a bit of depth of field, but the Flektogons focus close, so it's still possible to blur the background. thanks roger. best, y

Really cool, all the way around.  And I love playing around with shots such as this.  The variations are infinite because the original capture has so much potential.  Too pretty to be monstrous.

I head back to this little swamp regularly.  Not much chance to overwork one of them.  Thanks Jeff.  epd

I am liking the one you took earlier in the day even more!

Same camera, same lens, same photographer? : - ) or maybe the same one but not as tired!

Seems to have more depth and contrast......could it be that the light was just that bit less intense 15 mins earlier?

Nice work Jamie!

Rumen - I've seen many other swampy areas in the past few weeks, but non of them have this one's charm.  Thanks. epd

Alf - i think i prefer the other one as well.  fifteen minutes can make a massive difference late in the day at that time of year, but it's also a different day, and the weather varies a lot.  Thanks,  epd
