Unusual coloration distinguishes this steelhead boat from its more

drab cousins, as it lies tied up next to a barnlike building while out of

use. This boat is for inland water use and is distinguished by its high

prow. Your ratings, critiques and observations are invited and most

welcome. If you rate harshly, very critically, or wish to make a

remark, please submit a helpful and constructive comment; please

share your photographic knowledge to help improve my

Steelhead are ocean-going rainbow trout that grow to be almost identical to salmon in look, weight, and taste.  They are game fish and highly sought by anglers.

The boats coloration may be unusual but I certainly don't think it makes for a great visual document. In my singular opinion this composition would have more appeal if its form were stressed rather than its coloration (which can be made as wacky as one wishes with a few tweaks of soft sliders without anyone being the wiser). I find this photograph far more interesting when viewed as a monochrome.

I tried a straight desaturation and it was mostly pretty dull and uninteresting.

Your hitting the red slider gives this photo in monochrome some pizzazz!

I'll remember that and maybe work it up myself just as you have.  I like what you have done.

Thanks for taking the trouble; you have shown me something for which I am grateful.

Gotta say that I do love the color version on this one, John.  I like boats, but I never saw a psychedelic one before.

I happened to like this color boat very, very much, then was surprised to see the high contrast, red skew black and white version which I also liked.

Someone just took a can of spray paint to this beached (?) boat, somewhat in disrepair, but maybe ready to use next season with a little more paint and some caulking.

I'm always happy to see you come around to comment.  Welcome!

And thanks!
