This series has a more traditional look than your earlier crucifix series. Here the diffuse lighting puts more empahsis on the whole body, and less on the face. For me, this reduces the impact. Your earlier series with the specular light on the face emphasized/highlighted the face and the eyes with very dramatic light, which (for me at least) increased the emotional impact.
