Coming off the mountain recently after a hike, I encountered this group of RC

aircraft enthusiasts. A holiday weekend on the slopes of Haleakala, friends

gather to test their aircraft.

This fella’s not worried about the flatulating fanny in his face, but that the one

ton bovine may smash his RC aircraft.

Great spontaneous capture Dominick! I'm sure he will be disappointed if his airplane and the bovine's feet make 'contact'!  I just noticed the lack of colour in the trees below. Do you actually have a 'winter' in Hawaii? Silly of me to think you don't have 'seasons'. With every Aloha all I think of is warm breezes and Palm trees.

Gail, we have seasons.  Wet & dry, mostly, and it's been a dry summer.  Good for tourism  but bad for farming.   The length of the day determines which flowers bloom.  And there is always the wet side, the windward side, where it's always green, tropical,  and lush.  I live at the 2000 foot elevation where winter mornings are in the high 50's-low 60's.  It's maybe 10 degrees warmer in the summer.  And, the big surf happens in the winter!  And about this time of the year we may get snow on the mountaintop.  So yes, we have seasons, but not like the Northeast.

thankyou for your answer Dominick! I do think I could deal with low 50's to 60's. I did not realize that you saw snow though. We have already seen temps with 'wind chills'. We were fortunate when 'Sandy' hit. We are about an hour and a half northeast of Toronto, and just saw some winds and rain, we are certainly fortunate. But the night it was hitting New York, Jersey etc, I was watching the broadcasts on TV and the Tsunami warning was out for Hawaii. Had you on my mind that night! But had a feeling you were still on Vacation in the States. Thanks again for your info.

Kind regards, Gail

Great capture! They really do look like they belong together and out for a family outing! I had to laugh when I read your description of your seasons - wet and dry! Where I live we have two seasons also - hell and fog! Very enjoyable photo - thanks for making me smile. :)

Interesting info about the seasons....thanks!  This looked immediately familiar, as we drove up to the top of Haleakala.  I had never seen free roaming cows like they had there.  This is a great capture of that....I got a good chuckle out of it!
