Beautiful image to behold, Gunnar.  Lovely tonal range & rigorous composition (as usual in your work) though in my limited taste, I would have probably enjoyed this even more in something more akin to a sepia tone.  (A small note: as with the viewing of the initial version, I cannot help but feel that the title is a bit too plebeian for such a fine work -- I hope you don't mind my saying so.  Take this as another indication of my admiration for this image of yours more than anything else.)  Thanks again for sharing this lovely work.  Regards, -h.

Nice, the angular shadow and the two directions. The box window echoing the basket and the object between the two men.

my dear friend. first, thank for your attention also when i am absent as in this mounths. and i'm interested to see that your are changing something but not the way to use the light when you shoot. here is absolutely perfect what light draws, praiculary on the newspaper .hias lile detail you found gives dynamism and depth. well done. but this photo seems shooted in rome, or in italy, i am wrong? btw, the name you read on the paper is a nazist group.....

Dear all, thank you so much for your comments, very much appreciated indeed! Andrea, taken in Lucca this August. On the road from Cinque Terre to Siena.

Great capture; very well done! I love the opposing directions and the capture of one man going into the shadows while the other is emerging. Thank you for sharing. :)

Hi, Gunnar!

Really successful picture! I love everything about it. It holds eyes and makes me look for details. Best regards, Tamara

Gunnar,

You are a perfectionist and I am afraid to say it's difficult to revise perfection. That's my honest opinion. There is only one click at a perfect time, that's it, the rest is history.  For me this photograph is and will stay pure genious and as often you raise your standard pretty high which must be tough to emulate but you keep on doing it again with some magic shots which is the result of a nurtured creativity.  Just keep enjoying it and let your imagination flow.  Very best wishes,

I completly agree with the comment before mine! it is a great timing !well used the daylight and shadows. Keeping the two persons in the different directions. another fraction of a minute and the ballaced  composition will disappear....

B/W is a real nice choice !

This masterpiece oozes the quality of classic street photo. I'm aware of the two versions you have presented us, but tonight it's too late to talk about them. Bravo!
