Shot this one while trudging through one of the canyons in Zion a few days ago. I was searching for a mixture of fall color surrounded by high walls, most of the trees in the Narrows were still green over the weekend but the reflective light was amazing! I wouldn't complain if it was cloudy, you just adapt to the light and find something in a place like Zion.

Excellent picture. Very sharp and colorful. I just wonder - did you wear a wetsuit? At this time of the year the water must be extremely cold. I went up the canyon a few years ago in July. One of my best experiences ever.

best regards Per.

Wow Steve, there is so much to enjoy here. Wonderful colors, lighting and composition.  Very well done.  Was this after a rain?  I like the 'wet' rocks on the right.  You must have been hanging over a ledge to frame past the rock wall on the left.  Let us know more about how you composed the shot....positioning, tripod, etc.  Curious photographers want to know :)

Per, thanks! I did wear a wetsuit, well just the bottom and had the torso tied up at the waist.  Water was no less then 45 degrees.  Beautiful canyon, I'll do the top down with fiance or wife by then.

Hi Trey,
No rain on that day, the water is seeping off a flat terrace so the slick rock is showing off it's sheen.  I'm standing in the pool close to the ledge on the left of this 5ft waterfall.  Just walked through the canyon with no intentions of shooting an exact spot so it was great to stop where the light was good on and off through out the day.  Feel that is the best way for me to avoid the typical iconic views or at least get more and learn more from every outing.

HI Steve,  Beautiful presentation of this amazing place called the narrows.  I just last week made my first visit to the narrows and was in awe of its beauty.   Great Work!   Best Regards,  Sherry

Hi Sherry, thanks! This is one of the trubutaries to Virgin River so it's not the actual narrows but any canyon with so close is a called a narrows anyway.  I'm glad you got to see it and experience it.  It's very refreshing to walk through.

Gorgeous light, and color, in this superbly composed image Steve! Love to get down that way one of these years, but I always have a hard time tearing myself away from the Rockies. Outstanding work!

All the best,
Neil
