just sitting in the parlor, I noticed this fabulous pattern and

decided it would make for an interesting portrait... what say you?

love the light&shadow from the model's face,very well done.

I like this.  The one time I posted something like it I got very negative feedback.  Maybe you have drawn a superior list of critics.

My one suggestion for improvement would be to slightly lighten the contrast so as to allow the eye on the dark side to show a little more.

Photography will always be subjective and it just seems a matter of who happens to be viewing/rating at any given moment.

I love this lighting. Most photographers tell you to be very careful with this kind of light. It's very difficult to make it work. You've done a nice job. I think the only thing I would do different is have some light hitting the one eye so you have a little catch light in that eye though. It's brilliant the way it is, and the catch light might not even work, but I think I would try it just to see.

Shadows are interesting--here is your original version and mine with the shadows lightened a little.  I am not sure which one I like the best.  This image has a lot of mood.
