 The interplay between the red fan and her bright red lips really makes this composition jump out at the viewer.  With additional time to study it the viewer sees the pink of the cheeks and the warm reflections on the neck and collar bones becoming an added set of color statements, echoing the first.  

Then the bright white highlights of the fan and the white of her teeth and the highlight in her eyes speak out, in their turn, but inspection of them leads to finding something negative - in my opinion.  Her hair is too dark; it has lost most texture - the white lighting to separate her head from the background looks artificial.  The two regions of black, on each side seem to be negative space that does not add to the picture quality.

Then you have to forgive my prejudice - I was discovering the fundamentals of photo composition many years ago when books on composition talked about the proper amount of space to leave above a head.  Opinions varied, but no one ever suggested zero. Yours is essentially that, and the image screams out to me in pain.  I suggest that were it a vertical format in (say) 4x5 ratio that the negative spaces on each side would vanish and the space above her head would be greater.
