Light Cascade
This is one of the more abstract landscape shots taken during my recent Austria visit. No romantic story of great physical endurance to get to that perfect location and waiting for the weather and conditions to be just right. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time with a long lens. In truth, knowing that a trail goes toward an alpine lake with tremendous mountain views makes things a bit easier, as long as weather cooperates. In time, that dramatic photo will happen. I'm not sure these conditions would be so replicated. I was in the Tyrolean town of Neustift just after snow and rain had begun to clear. Had just finished breakfast in town before heading out on the trail. Clouds and fog began to clear, and openings gave way to blue skies. Looking above, I saw this and grabbed my camera out of the car and started shooting before the magic was gone. It went fast, but managed about 10 exposures of slightly different compositions. So far, one of my favorites from the trip. I used the daylight white balance and did not adjust, as I felt the blues influenced the fog and was pretty much how it looked to my eye. I have tried a B&W conversion, but preferred the color to B&W conversions to this point. ISO 320, 1/2000 sec, f8, hand held
