I like the way you have framed the figure of the man deep in thought, between the upright pillars. A small crop (vertical left and horizontal top)  allows a more interesting course for the eye to follow between the uprights.

Hi Alf,

I found your above recorded comment helpful, but I am curious on one point.

I feel the width of the visible portion of the pillar should be still kept more than the width of the front pillar on the right, because of the asymmetry of the human figure. would like to know whether you think differently.

Interesting to note your thoughts on this.  My personal view was that the suggested crop would place the human figure in a more precise thirds position, with more proportional space to his right so that he is looking into the image, whilst at the same time accentuating the zig zag route to his position between the columns.  The resulting equal proportions of both far left and far right columns seem to balance ok to me, but there is also enough room to allow slightly more width to the left column if it were so desired.
