This little boy and his parents were waiting in line with us at the

Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. The boy saw my camera and said, "Can you

take my picture?" How often does that happen?

How cute, I imagine he was so sweet. Children love to see their images right away. I almost bought a nect pillow just like his!!! Nice capture!

Patsy.....he certainly was cute with a capital 'C'.  :-)

Victor.....I actually offered to send it to the parents.  Their response was "Thanks, but we have lots of pictures of him".  Perhaps they did, or maybe they didn't want to give out their personal info.  Either way, at least they laughed and were agreeable when the little boy asked me to take his picture.

Ranga.....thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

Gail.....Yes, kids do love to see themselves.  I took several pictures of him, and he wanted to see all of them.  I even let him play with the buttons on my camera.  He was so cute.  Thanks for stopping by!

Cute - personified! that young person is very well loved - I can tell.

And I love it in color. Mike Mancil does such a wonderful job with these type of shots but in B&W. I was motivated to try out a B&W version. I still think I like the color version but here is the B&W.

The colors were so striking that I never considered trying this in B&W.  I love your version.  Which editing program do you use for B&W?  Yes, I agree, Mike is doing some fantastic work in B&W.  I still think I prefer the color......his skin color against the orange and spark of apple red just make this shot for me.  But thanks for showing me how great it can look in B&W.

Cute kid.  I love the way the bear looks hungrily at the apple.  The girl's eyes are a little lifeless because there are no catch-lights in them.  You might consider a small flash for portraitures.  Not enough to change the exposure but only to add catch-lights in the eyes.  Flash should be off to either side up a little so that you get a catch-light at 10am or 2pm in the iris.  Flashes on cameras tend to give pointy little lights ion the middle of the pupil which looks weird because the sun won''t do that outside.

The top of the head ought to be cut either like you mean it or leave some breathing space between the top of the head and the border.  Having body parts edges at the border is not the best.

Nice shot  Alan

Thanks for the info about cropping.  I just did what was instinctive because I really don't know the rules about such things.  Good advice.

As for catch lights in the eyes.  This was taken outside while waiting in line to get in to the Aquarium in Chicago.  I only had the 1 camera and no flash.  He asked me to take his picture, which was so cute.  Oh yeah.....it's a 'he', but a really pretty 'he'. eh?
