View large. I'd appreciate your thoughts about this image at Moeracki

Boulders in New Zealand, a bit north of Dunedin on the Pacific coast -

that's the east coast - of the South Island. Many thanks for taking your

time to comment. Larry

This is an interesting subject.  It's hard to tell the size of the rocks because there is nothing to compare them to.  I couldn't decide whether they were large rocks shot from above or small rocks that you crouched to capture.  The composition is interesting.

Hi Lynne,  Your comment about the size of the rocks is interesting.  The large rock is one of the Moeracki Boulders.  There are a series of good size, not huge, boulders on the beach about 30KM from Dunedin, New Zealand.  I found the composition and textures interesting here.  I also have a few more images that are not posted.   While there were people on the beach - this is a major tourist attraction - I found them to be a detraction from images, not an enhancement. Thanks for your visit and comment.  Larry

I like the various textures and shapes very much but the hint of wet sand at the top of the image leaves me yearning to see the sea and although I can appreciate the image befopre me, my landscape head wants to take over and use the boulders as a wonderful foreground lead in to the wide view : - )  I can't help it Larry, seeing landscape opportunities is almost like an affliction!

Compliments & Best Regards

Alf,  Hi.  For your seascape head I will attach another boulder image or two in the next couple days.  Thanks for your visit and comment.

Very interesting and attractive.  Something like the "Egg Factory" in New Mexico.  Love the texture, too.  Best Regards,

Wanghan,  Yes, it is shapes and textures that interest me in this image.  These rocks are set back quite a bit from where the main water on the beach is.  In the  United States, rocks like this are often referred to as erratics, left behind by the forces of glaciers.  In New Zealand, I am sure it is much different.  New Zealand is shaped by volcanoes and the tectonic forces of the Pacific and Australian Plates coming together.   Best to you, Wanghan,  Larry
